Sydney
- Sat 31 Oct – BIGBANG concert, Accor Stadium (7.30–10pm): up to 65,000 fans, so expect major delays on the M4, Homebush Bay Drive and Parramatta Road around Sydney Olympic Park in the evening.
- Sat 31 Oct – Oktoberfest in the Domain (sold out): Art Gallery Rd closes to inbound traffic 7–10pm, and Macquarie St, College St, Prince Albert Rd, St Marys Rd and Hospital Rd close 8–10pm. Expect slow CBD traffic in the evening; allow extra time for pickups from CBD hotels.
- Weekend trackwork, Sat 31 Oct: buses replace trains on parts of the T1 North Shore and T9 Northern lines, and T2/T3 Inner West trains don’t run through the City Circle. If you were planning to take the train to the airport, check the Trip Planner first, or book a door-to-door transfer.
- Sun 1 Nov – Sydney Open: one-day architecture event across the CBD with extra foot traffic around city buildings.
- Until Mon 2 Nov – Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi: final weekend is the busiest. Expect congestion and limited parking around Bondi, Tamarama and Campbell Parade.
- From Sat 7 Nov – Powerhouse Parramatta opening festival: extra crowds around Phillip St, Parramatta, through November.
- Sun 8 Nov – Rugby League World Cup semi-finals, Allianz Stadium: expect delays on Moore Park Road, Anzac Parade and the Eastern Distributor near Moore Park from mid-afternoon.
Melbourne
- Tue 3 Nov – Melbourne Cup Day: public holiday across most of Victoria. Expect heavy traffic around Flemington and very busy Melbourne Airport flights either side of the long weekend (Sat 31 Oct – Tue 3 Nov). Read our Melbourne Cup Day transport guide.
