If you want to make the most of your holiday funds in Sydney, here are a few tips to help you save. From museums to airport shuttles, these will help you save on your next trip to Sydney,
Travel During Non-Peak Times
Plan your trip during non-peak travel times. In Australia, the least travelled time is August through September. You can typically save 5% to 10% by booking airfare in this window. You can also save more by travelling midweek. Most people prefer to travel on the weekend, and typically Friday is the busiest and most expensive day to travel.
Museums
There are plenty of incredible museums and galleries throughout Sydney that are free. Some of our favourite free museums in Sydney include the White Rabbit Gallery, The Australia Centre for Photography, and The Manly Art Museum. The Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art also have great free sections available.
Visit the Markets
Save on shopping by hitting the markets. The markets are eclectic and fun to walk through even if you’re not buying. The markets are usually the best place to pick up inexpensive souvenirs while in Sydney. Some of local favourites include Paddington Market, Glebe Market, Chinatown Night Market, and Bondi Market.
Avoid Tourist Traps
If you want to make the most of your holiday, it may be a good idea to avoid the tourist traps like Circular Quay, The Rocks, and Darling Harbour. This is also a great way to avoid expensive restaurants. They say if you can see the Opera House from your table, you’re paying too much to eat there.
Hit the Beach
The beaches are probably what Sydney is most famous for and it’s totally free. Bondi Beach might be the most popular, but other beaches worth visiting are Manly, Watsons Bay, and Coogee.
Reserve a Sydney Airport Shuttle
Avoid rental cars and reserve an airport shuttle like Redy2GO in Sydney. The airport train can get fairly expensive and may have long wait times. Redy2GO is a good way to save money while riding on your schedule.
