After a very long two years, cruise ships are back in Sydney. The cruise industry took a major hit during the pandemic, but is showing signs of life again in 2022 with the first returning cruises already sold out. In May, Australian officials completed a test run with the Pacific Explorer, a P&O cruise ship, from Sydney to Brisbane. The test measured the effectiveness of onboard COVID implementations as well as fine-tuning cruise services. The test also gave staff, officers, and crew a chance to get reacquainted with the ship after the long hiatus.

Other cruise lines such as Cunard, Silversea, Seabourn, and Oceania are expected to return by the end of the year but have not set any definitive dates yet.
